*Epiphytes live on other plants for the debris and support.
Orchids
* Some orchids are Lithophytes which grow on rocks.
*The oldest of Robert’s Orchids is 67 years old!
*Most Orchids are Epiphytic Dendrobiums.
*Australian Rock orchids include Dancing Lady
*Cattleya superbum produces colour all year
*Vandas have narrow tipped leaves
*Phalaenopsis do not like cold and damp but grow well under dry house eaves.
*Scenic Rim Orchids grow on the bark of Watergum Branches. They do not grow on pines.
*Grow orchids on the eastern side of palms and trees where they receive morning sun but are protected from the hot afternoon sun
*Only 3 species of Cymbidiums grow well in coastal areas and need ice blocks in Summer.
*Deciduous Orchids produce flower nodes in Winter
*DO NOT Use Copper Wire for support. Use old stockings with some moss or bark.
Tillandsias
*Do not feed with foliar sprays on windy days.
*Do not use copper sprays.
*Old Man’s Beard can be draped over an upturned basket.
*Curtains of old man’s beard can be hung to create garden rooms using fishing swivels so it moves in the wind.
